Independence Day Speech for School/College Students in English

Good Morning and Happy Independence Day to each and everyone who gathered here. Today I’m standing here to share a few words about Independence Day.

We celebrate Independence Day every year on the 15th of August because India got freedom on the night of 14th of August in 1947. India proudly celebrates its Independence Day on August 15 every year. India was under the control of the British until 1947. Britishers ruled our country for 200 years. They made each and every Indian as slaves and literally punished them. Many courageous leaders stood stand and fought for the freedom of our country. If those leaders would not have strived hard to get freedom, Our lives would have been miserable now.  Independence Day should make us more patriotic. Independence Day is celebrated to remember the struggle of the freedom fighters. It is an occasion to remember the great sacrifices of all the great leaders of India. Independence Day reminds us of our duties as an Indian.

We have to love our motherland just as we love our mother. Thank You. Jai Hind.

India got independence on the 15th of August 1947 from the clutches of British rule. Indian citizens all over the country celebrate this national festival annually with lots of joy and enthusiasm. A day when we remember all the glory of our nation as we recall the struggles, revolts and the efforts of our Indian freedom fighters fighting for the Indian Independence. They would always be in our memories and a way of inspiration for our whole life. After independence, India gets a new birth with the happy face of all Indian citizens.

Over the past 72 years, the nation has only moved forward and is on its way to becoming a superpower. Before even the completion of four years of India Independence, we strengthened the country by making it republic with the introduction of a constitution to which the whole world bows to. We are a country of vast diversity, and our unity makes us a strong nation. From technology to agriculture we are ranked among the top countries of the world, and there is no going back from here as we are always on the move to grow and do better.

Today, as we remember all the achievements of our country on this Independence Day, let every one of us not forget our soldiers. we know that they are always there to guard us. Those soldiers leave their families and are on duty to protect our country.
I would once again like to thank you all for your attention and for giving me the opportunity to speak in front of you all. Jai Hind! Vande Mataram!”
